Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care

Otahuhu College is a guidance conscious school and a comprehensive network of pastoral care is in place to assist students and families with any problems.

New students are placed in a Tutor Group within a House. As they progress through the Year Groups, students remain with their House throughout their time at school. It is the Tutor in the first instance that students can refer to for personal help or guidance. If the Tutor is unable to resolve an issue or believes it to be necessary, a student will then be referred to the Year Level Dean for further guidance or assistance.

Two guidance counsellors are available each day for more serious or personal matters where advice is needed. They are responsible, willing to listen and skilled in helping to sort out difficulties.

There is also a Careers Department that gives specialised advice about careers opportunities and the qualifications.

A Peer Mediation system also operates in the College that has students trained in mediation and conflict resolution being available to help resolve student problems should they arise.

UNIFORMS

All students are required to wear correct school uniform and appropriate standards of grooming, neatness and cleanliness are stressed for all. The uniform is available from the College shop.
