John Pulu - Chair Person

John, or JP, is from Holopeka, Ha‘apai & Kolomotu‘a – Nuku‘alofa, Kingdom of Tonga with ties to Lau in the Fiji Islands.

A proud Ōtāhuhu College alumnus and member of Grey house, John works as a broadcaster on the TVNZ show ‘Tagata Pasifika’ and Pacific Media Network radio show ‘PMN Tonga’.

John caught the bug for the media industry whilst studying at Ōtāhuhu College and is particularly passionate about utilising the media as an outlet to convey the rich culture and heritage of Pasifika people in Aotearoa and abroad.

He joined the Ōtāhuhu College whānau to support the students to reach their full potential.

Craig Sionetuato - Board Member

Craig Sionetuato is a proud alumnus of Otahuhu College and a member of Hopana, with ancestral ties to the villages of Tuapa and Mutalau in the beautiful island of Niue.

He is the Director of Pacific Regional Services on the executive team of the Pasifika Medical Association, leading efforts to support Pacific communities across Aotearoa and the wider region. His work has taken him into communities across the Pacific, including Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Niue, and many others, where he has worked directly to strengthen health and community services.

Committed to giving back, Craig has also joined the Otahuhu College Board of Trustees, serving both his community and the school that helped lay the foundation for his future.

Susan Afoa - Parent Representative

‘Mauri, Talofa and Kia Ora – My name is Susan Afoa.

I am of Pacifika background, born to an I-Kiribati and Samoan parents here in Otahuhu, Auckland. I am a proud parent to 3 teens and my eldest child went to Otahuhu College and just graduated last year. I am also a former OC pupil and have lived in Otahuhu most of my life as have my children.

My work background and experience is in Travel and Tourism, Tertiary education, Leadership and Business. During the day, I manage 100+ apprentices who are currently undertaking their studies across various specialist trades and outside of work, I’m either playing social touch, doing crossfit or supporting my childrens sports games.

As a parent, I am a firm believer in quality education and love being a part of shaping the direction in supporting OC students to achieve and believe in themselves and their full potential. My passion for helping people and creating positive impact has always been a strong driver and aligns with my core values of service and collaboration which underpins all areas of my life.

I am honored to be able to serve the OC community as one of the parent representatives sitting on the Otahuhu College School Board of Trustees.

Kia ora all, my name is Jasmine Reynolds, I hail from Waikato-Tainui, along with Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupōuri and Ngāi Tahu on my mother’s side. My son currently attends Ōtāhuhu College, I am highly motivated to support him and his fellow students in a successful journey through secondary education and beyond.

I have a background in Data and Digital innovation. As such, I am an advocate for leveraging technology, to improve equitable education outcomes for our diverse whānau and community. It is a pleasure to be of service to Ōtāhuhu College as a parent representative on the Board of Trustees.

Rulon Brown - Teacher Representative

As an ex-student and former Head Boy of Otahuhu College, I am privileged and blessed to now serve as a teacher, coach, and contributor to a range of extra-curricular activities within the school. I view the opportunity to stand as the staff representative on the Board of Trustees as a meaningful way to give back to the community that has shaped my personal and professional journey. My experiences as both a student and a staff member provide me with a unique perspective and an informed understanding of the culture, values , and aspirations of our school. I am committed to representing staff with integrity, supporting the Board’s decision-making, and ensuring that the needs of our students, staff, and wider school community remain at the centre of our collective work.
